Every one of us has a story to tell. We've all experienced successes and challenges that, in hindsight, helped us become stronger, more compassionate and perhaps even more resilient.

It's very empowering to transform those life experiences into the art of telling your story from the stage; the process can be incredibly cathartic, liberating and, ultimately, fulfilling beyond measure.

Whether you’ve begun writing your story, solo show or memoir, are just thinking about it, or simply want to be part of a new and bold creative adventure, this delightful introductory workshop will get your momentum going in the write direction (yes, pun intended!)

All of us have an amazing story to tell. Yes, even YOU!

  • A beautiful well-lived life, filled with precious memories, joys and losses.

  • An insurmountable challenge (or several) you managed to overcome.

  • A series of unique events that might be inspiring to others.

  • A hilarious or out-of-this-world moment that changed everything for you.

  • A unique ancestry and how you and your family came to be here today.

A few words from Eli, your guide through this adventure:

"Writing and performing the award-winning, mostly solo musical show Out of The Blue – about my miraculous cancer healing journey - has been the highlight of my creative life, so far.

The process of developing and finally sharing it with appreciative and receptive audiences internationally, has been beyond my wildest imaginings. (Being nominated in 6 categories by Broadway World L.A.  and winning the Encore Producers' Award at The Hollywood Fringe festival wasn't bad either!)

The experience was so fulfilling and all-encompassing that I’m feeling called to facilitate storytelling workshops from the vantage point of using art and theatre as vehicles of personal transformation.

I hope you'll join me in this exciting new adventure!"

This 8-session workshop (2 hours each) is divided into two sections:

  • You'll develop a story you will tell in 7-10 minutes (could be a chapter or a scene).

  • We'll invite your creative muse to come and play through writing prompts and improv games.

  • We'll explore story structure and develop an outline to give your story a strong foundation.

  • You'll identify which moments are most appropriate to be told on stage effectively, and how.

  • You'll write your compelling short piece and refine it by the end of class.

  • Whether or not you've ever performed on stage, you'll do a great job!

  • You'll explore how to best deliver your material and gain confidence through rehearsal.

  • You can be as creative as you want - using costumes and props - or keep it simple, too.

  • You can read it, memorize it, or a combination of both.

  • We'll explore character work to make your performance seamless and compelling to watch.

In the end, you'll perform/deliver your story in front of a small, loving and appreciative audience. Nothing is more thrilling than that!

EXTRA: Your reading/performance will be video recorded for posterity. Also, all workshop sessions are recorded and available within 24 hours.
